KARLOVAC DANCE FESTIVAL

VERTICAL DANCE WORKSHOP

KARLOVAC DANCE FESTIVAL was held from August 20-21, 2018 in old Dubovac Castle.

For the first time in the history of the town of Karlovac, on the beautiful historic site of the Old Town of Dubovac, a two-day vertical workshop Dancing Against the Fear of Height was held, led by Marija Šćekić. Workshop participants had the opportunity to face their fear of heights at the 23 meter high tower of Dubovac Castle, a historical site of Karlovac.

The workshop was held as part of the summer edition of the Karlovac Dance Festival organized by F.R.E.E.D.A.N.C.E. arts organizations and the main collaborators and riggers of Marija Scekic were members of the Karlovac HGSS.

During the first day of the workshop, the participants learned the basics of body warming as a preparation for a wall or other vertical surface, and special attention was paid to learning the basic positions of the body in vertical, the technique of stepping, rotating and jumping on a vertical surface. The second day is intended for the technique of rising and lowering as well as minor jumps, reflections and turns.
