REFLEXION (2017)

Premiere: January 21st, 2017
Venue: Croatian National Theatre, Zadar
Author: Marija Šćekić

INFO

“In the most painful, dreadful and darkest reflection of the Self – one finds himself/herself” This full evening multimedia dance performance reflects what Lucija Mikas (contemporary dancer) and Elvis Hodžić (mechatronic technician and B-Boy) are in their movement essence, whether they liked it or not. The performance is also an autobiographical statement of the author about the 21st century passion of those who decide to continue walking with heavy cross on their back while trying to remain Humans, not beasts or machines.

The strict, mathematically precise choreography explores the movement essence, the space between learned (academic) and natural (organic) human movement through which two artists have communicated for years, but in fact never really understood each other and neither their movement language. With the open-form choreographic tools and sharp artistic eye, Marija Šćekić infiltrates/penetrates the deepest and most hidden psychosomatic aspects of her dancers, to extract their raw, animalistic, reflective subtle temblors of their bodies and turn them into harmonic movement sequences where both dancers are free to speak, move and be who they really are.
