NATURAL MOVEMENT FOR CHILDREN

Natural Movement for children is a part of the education programme of the Marija Scekic’s School of Natural Movement based in Zadar. This course is NOT offering trainings that prepare children for competitions or public performances. It is providing a place where children play, learn to walk, run, jump, think, socialize and exercise their minds and bodies for the long-term benefit and further development of creative and artistic potentials. In this way, training becomes interesting but feasible for every child, even the one who will encounter the greatest (psycho-motor) difficulties when performing exercises and tasks.

The classroom in which the classes take place is the space in which the child creates receives all the attention, assistance and support needed for work, growth and development. An individualized program is not considered in the modern school system, so children are not infrequently struggled to stay in line with the form attributed to them. At the School of Natural Movement – children are just expected to be and act in accordance to who they really are – CHILDREN.

Each child is unique and has a predetermined genetic motor. This motor has nothing to do with skill or talent, but it has something to do with developing a child's motivation, self-perception, enhancing body and mind strength, willpower, and creating good habits of proper movement. The load on the musculoskeletal system from running is essential for training our bodies, so it is advisable to start early. The key is to exercise balance and body weight perception on the soles of your feet, not the brand of footwear your children wear. Jumping is extremely important for our body because it helps maintain elastic and healthy muscles, tendons and blood vessels, but we should not forget the old folk saying – look before you leap.
